Sharjeel Memon hits back at Farooq Sattar’s Criticism

Karachi: Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has responded strongly to MQM leader Farooq Sattar’s recent remarks, accusing him of targeting the Sindh government out of frustration.

“Farooq Sattar’s grievances are with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, but he’s venting anger at the Sindh government,” Memon said in a statement.

Memon said, “Using a single day of rainfall to blame 17 years of alleged corruption shows clear desperation.” He reminded MQM of its long-standing role in governance, stating that Karachi is still suffering from the effects of their “so-called urban rule,” including corruption, fake appointments, and institutional collapse.

“The Sindh government has achieved in a few years what MQM couldn’t in four decades,” Memon added, highlighting rapid post-rain recovery in key areas of the city. He credited collaboration with NDMA and PDMA for effective relief efforts.

Calling rain a natural phenomenon, Memon criticised the MQM for politicising natural disasters. “Karachi is the heart of Sindh and will remain so. “The narrative of separating Karachi from Sindh will never succeed,” he said.

Memon pointed to completed projects like the Peoples Bus Service, the K-IV water project, and infrastructure upgrades as proof of the Sindh government’s commitment to Karachi.

He concluded by urging Farooq Sattar to “answer for MQM’s 40-year performance instead of making baseless accusations.”
