Speculations about Nawaz-Imran meeting are baseless: Ishaq Dar

LAHORE: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has dismissed reports of a possible meeting between former Prime Ministers Nawaz Sharif and Imran Khan at Adiala Jail, calling them mere speculation and wishful thinking.

Speaking to the media at Data Darbar, Dar stated, “There is neither a need nor any plan for such a meeting. These rumours are self-generated and misleading.”

Addressing reports about the PPP demanding ministries, he clarified that the party never asked for any, adding, “The PPP has stood by us during tough times, and now that things are better, there’s no question of parting ways.” He also noted that the coalition government now holds a simple majority.

Dar emphasised that the government is open to working with all political parties, whether in power or in the opposition. Referring to national security, he said, “When Pakistan was under attack, political differences disappeared and a unified national stance emerged for the world to see.”
