Washington D.C.: The U.S. Department of State has officially designated the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and its faction, the Majeed Brigade, as Foreign Terrorist Organisations (FTOs).
In a statement, the department said the move reflects the United States’ ongoing commitment to countering global terrorism and dismantling networks that threaten regional and international security.
The BLA has claimed responsibility for several high-profile attacks, including those on the Karachi Airport and the Gwadar Port Complex.
The group also admitted responsibility for the Jaffar Express train attack, which resulted in the death of 31 people and the hostage-taking of 300 others.
U.S. officials emphasised that such designations are critical tools in disrupting terrorist operations and cutting off their access to resources.
