Two terrorists killed in CTD operation in Peshawar

The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) killed two wanted militants during a late-night intelligence-based operation near the Regi Northern Bypass in Peshawar, police officials confirmed on Wednesday.
According to authorities, the operation was carried out after receiving credible intelligence regarding the presence of suspected terrorists in the area. Acting swiftly, CTD personnel set up an ambush point, leading to a gun battle when the suspects opened fire.
During the exchange, two militants identified as Abbas and Usman were killed. Officials revealed that both individuals were involved in multiple acts of terrorism. Abbas, in particular, was a high-value target wanted in 11 terrorism cases, including attacks that resulted in the deaths of five police officers and injuries to more than a dozen others.

Police also recovered the mobile phone of slain CTD constable Sanaullah from Abbas, further linking him to the killing of the officer. The development is being seen as a significant breakthrough in the case.
However, several accomplices managed to escape under the cover of darkness. Following the encounter, heavy contingents of police and security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
The CTD reiterated its resolve to continue intelligence-based operations to eliminate terrorist elements and ensure lasting peace in the region.
In a separate development, city police arrested a murder suspect within 24 hours of the crime. The accused, identified as Zardad, was apprehended during a raid conducted by Matani police. Authorities also recovered the weapon used in the murder.
Police officials stated that the swift action reflects their commitment to maintaining law and order and bringing criminals to justice.
