Water supply in Karachi shut down for 4 days! Which areas are affected?

KARACHI – The Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) has announced a four-day suspension of water supply in several areas of the city due to essential repair work on a major water pipeline.

According to a spokesperson for the KWSC, repair work on the 84-inch main water supply line located in Ghazi Goth will begin tomorrow. The repair process is expected to take approximately 96 hours, with teams working around the clock to ensure timely completion.

The spokesperson explained that the purpose of this repair is to improve the water supply system in the long term. However, residents in various areas will face partial water supply disruption during the repair period.

The affected localities include:

• NIPA
• Lyari
• Jamshed Town
• Jinnah Town
• PIB Colony
• Hyderabad Colony
• Landhi
• Korangi
• DHA (Defence Housing Authority)

The KWSC further informed that Karachi receives a total daily water supply of 650 million gallons per day (MGD). Due to the repair activities, there will be a temporary shortfall of 200 MGD, reducing the city’s supply to 450 MGD during the maintenance period.

Officials have urged residents to store sufficient water in advance and use it wisely over the next few days.

“The repair work is essential to ensure a better and more efficient water supply system in the future. We request citizens to cooperate with us during this temporary inconvenience,” the KWSC spokesperson added.
