Former BRT Yellow Line Karachi Project Director Zamir Abbasi has been arrested in connection with alleged financial irregularities exceeding Rs8 billion in the mass transit project. Authorities claim that advance payments worth Rs8.5 billion were made to contractors in violation of financial rules. The BRT Yellow Line financial irregularities case has become one of the most significant corruption investigations involving a public infrastructure project.

According to anti-corruption officials, Zamir Abbasi was arrested during a raid conducted in the DHA area of Lahore following a tip-off. After his arrest, he was transferred to Karachi, where further legal proceedings will take place.

The Chairman of Anti-Corruption Sindh stated that the case against Abbasi will be tried in Karachi. A formal case was registered against him on June 10, accusing him of involvement in financial misconduct related to the BRT Yellow Line project.
