Iran accuses US of ceasefire violation after ship incident

Iran has accused the United States of violating the ceasefire after an alleged attack on an Iranian commercial vessel, escalating tensions in an already fragile regional environment.
According to Iran’s Joint Military Command, the vessel targeted by US forces was a commercial ship en route from China to Iran. Iranian officials described the incident as an act of “maritime aggression” and warned that a response would follow.
In an official statement, the Iranian military said it considers the action a breach of the existing ceasefire arrangement and accused US forces of engaging in what it termed “armed piracy.” Authorities in Tehran stated that retaliatory measures would be taken against US naval assets in the region.

The statement further claimed that Iranian forces had already responded by launching drone strikes targeting certain US naval vessels. However, independent verification of these claims has not yet been confirmed.
Meanwhile, the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that US forces had intercepted and taken control of an Iranian vessel. US officials stated that the ship was attempting to violate a blockade in the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.
Earlier, Donald Trump said on social media that US forces had targeted and seized an Iranian ship accused of breaching the blockade. He described the action as necessary to enforce maritime restrictions in the region.
The incident marks a significant escalation amid ongoing tensions between Washington and Tehran. Analysts warn that further retaliatory steps could undermine ceasefire efforts and disrupt stability in one of the world’s most critical energy transit routes.
Global observers are closely monitoring the situation as both sides exchange strong statements, raising concerns about the potential for renewed conflict.
