Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, chief of Jamaat-e-Islami, has warned of a nationwide mobilisation campaign after Eid, criticising Pakistan’s judicial and political system for failing to deliver justice.

Speaking to party workers in Peshawar, he said the country’s problems could not be resolved by merely changing governments, stressing that a complete overhaul of the system was necessary. He announced that the party would launch a nationwide membership drive from April 25 to May 15, aiming to expand its support base across the country.

The JI leader strongly criticised mainstream political parties, including Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Pakistan Peoples Party, stating that those seeking power could join them, while those committed to real change should align with Jamaat-e-Islami.

He also highlighted governance issues, calling for stronger local government systems and opposing the concentration of authority in bureaucratic offices. According to him, empowering administrative officials with financial control undermines democratic structures and limits public participation.

Addressing the education crisis, he claimed millions of children remain out of school, particularly in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and urged immediate reforms to address the issue.

On foreign policy, Rehman criticised Pakistan’s past and present ties with the United States, alleging that such alliances had brought little benefit. While acknowledging ongoing diplomatic efforts for regional peace, he stressed the need for an independent and dignified foreign policy.

He further accused the government of placing financial burdens on citizens through heavy taxation and petroleum levies, claiming that public resources were being exploited without adequate relief measures.

Rehman concluded by reiterating his party’s commitment to systemic reform and national mobilisation.
