Pakistan Bans Indian Ships from Ports Amid Rising Tensions After Pahalgam Incident

Pakistan has officially banned Indian-flagged cargo vessels from docking at its ports in response to escalating tensions with India following the Pahalgam incident in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

According to official sources, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs has issued a formal notification, instructing all port authorities across the country to deny entry to any ship sailing under the Indian flag. The move comes after India levelled unverified allegations against Pakistan in the aftermath of a deadly attack in Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives, most of whom were civilians and tourists.

In a reciprocal step, Pakistani-flagged vessels have also been prohibited from entering Indian ports, as per directives issued by the maritime ministry. Officials stated that the decision was made in light of the current diplomatic climate and growing hostility in the region.

Authorities emphasised that the ban aims to reflect Pakistan’s firm stance against what it calls “baseless accusations” and to ensure national interests are protected amidst the ongoing tensions.
