PM Shehbaz Sharif Urges Iran to Arrest Killers of Pakistani Nationals in Mehrestan Incident

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has strongly condemned the brutal killing of eight Pakistani citizens in Iran’s Sistan province and has called on the Iranian government to swiftly arrest those responsible and ensure they are given strict punishment.
In a condolence message issued on Sunday, the prime minister expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in Mehrestan, where the Pakistani nationals were reportedly shot dead while working at a car repair workshop near the Afghanistan border.
Terming the act as “barbaric”, Shehbaz Sharif urged Iranian authorities to immediately bring the perpetrators to justice and to make the motive behind the attack known to the public.
He emphasised that terrorism remains a serious threat to peace and stability across the region and highlighted the need for a joint, coordinated approach by all neighbouring countries to combat it effectively.
The prime minister offered prayers for the victims and extended his heartfelt condolences to the grieving families. He further directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to maintain close contact with the victims’ families and to work with Pakistan’s embassy in Iran to ensure the swift and respectful repatriation of the bodies.
