India Slip Below Pakistan After Another Home Test Clean Sweep

India faced another clean sweep at home, and as a result, the team has now fallen below Pakistan on the World Test Championship points table. This unexpected shift has surprised cricket fans worldwide, and the main highlight of discussion is the India Test Championship table drop that followed their latest defeat.

On Wednesday, South Africa defeated India by a massive margin of 408 runs in the Guwahati Test, completing a 2-0 clean sweep of the series. India were given a huge target of 549 runs in the second innings but the entire team collapsed for just 140 runs.

With this victory, South Africa achieved the rare honour of winning a Test series on Indian soil after 25 years. This loss also marks the second time under coach Gautam Gambhir that India has faced a clean sweep at home. Earlier in 2024, New Zealand had also defeated India in a home series.
