The Islamabad High Court (IHC) judge transfer has been challenged by the Karachi Bar Association in a Supreme Court appeal.

The Supreme Court Registrar, the President, the federal government, the registrars of the high courts in Lahore, Islamabad, Sindh, and Balochistan, as well as transferred and impacted justices, are all named as respondents in the case, which was filed by counsel Faisal Siddiqui.

The petition requests that the revised seniority list be revoked and that the acting IHC chief justice be appointed, in accordance with Article 184(3) of the Constitution. It contends that the president cannot reassign justices without restraint, endangering judicial independence.

In addition, the petition calls for the impacted judges to retake their oath and declares the transfer notification to be unlawful.
