Ulema issue Hajj code of conduct

Religious scholars in Pakistan have issued a comprehensive code of conduct for pilgrims performing Hajj and Umrah, urging strict compliance with rules and preservation of sanctity at the holy sites.

The guidelines were jointly announced by the Pakistan Ulema Council, Darul Ifta Pakistan and the International Tazeem-e-Haramain Sharifain Council during a press conference held in Lahore.

Addressing the media, Chairman Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi emphasized that pilgrims must respect the sanctity of the two holy mosques and strictly follow regulations set by Saudi authorities. He stated that performing Hajj without a valid permit is not only illegal but also religiously impermissible, urging residents in Saudi Arabia to avoid undertaking the pilgrimage without official authorization.

The scholars advised intending pilgrims to gain proper knowledge of Hajj and Umrah rituals before departure, noting that lack of preparation can create unnecessary difficulties during the journey. They highlighted that Saudi Arabia has taken extensive measures to facilitate pilgrims, making it essential for visitors to cooperate fully with local authorities.

The code of conduct also warned against involvement in political activities during Hajj, stressing that such actions could disturb the peaceful atmosphere of the holy sites. Pilgrims were urged to focus solely on their عبادات and maintain discipline throughout their stay.

Additionally, the scholars cautioned people against booking travel through unregistered or unauthorized operators, including informal online groups, which can lead to fraud and complications.

They reiterated that adherence to these guidelines would help ensure a smooth, respectful, and spiritually fulfilling pilgrimage experience for all.
