Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif addressed a gathering on Thursday after inaugurating the Prime Minister’s Digital Youth Hub, emphasising the crucial role of Pakistan’s youth in shaping the country’s future. He declared that the youth are Pakistan’s greatest asset and that by enhancing their skills, the nation could become one of the most developed countries in the world.

During his speech, the prime minister pointed out that while some countries are rich in oil, gas, and minerals, Pakistan’s true wealth lies in its young population. He promised to invest substantial resources—billions, or even trillions, of rupees—in providing top-tier training and skills development for the youth.

Reflecting on his tenure as the Chief Minister of Punjab, PM Shehbaz recalled his efforts to prioritise education, health, and youth empowerment. He highlighted initiatives such as the distribution of 400,000 laptops to talented students on merit, aiming to foster academic growth and technological development.

The Prime Minister stressed the importance of training youth in Information Technology (IT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and vocational skills, stating that well-trained young people would become invaluable assets to the country. He further emphasised that the development of such skills would be pivotal in securing a bright future for the nation.

PM Shehbaz also addressed Pakistan’s economic situation, acknowledging the country’s reliance on IMF programmes for financial stability. He expressed hope that the ongoing IMF programme would be the last of its kind and emphasised the need to free Pakistan from mounting debt. He mentioned that the staff-level agreement with the IMF had helped stabilise the country’s economy, with 34 billion rupees recently deposited into the national treasury.

He reassured citizens that efforts to strengthen the economic position of farmers, industrialists, and youth would be a priority. The prime minister vowed to continue fighting for their rights and work towards alleviating the burden of debt on the nation.

In conclusion, PM Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed his commitment to serving the country and ensuring that Pakistan’s youth are empowered to secure dignified employment, promising that he would not let the nation down.
