Shehbaz Sharif Travels to Bahrain

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif left for Bahrain on Wednesday for a two-day official visit. He is accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, federal ministers, and senior officials. During the visit, he will meet Bahrain’s leadership to discuss collaboration in trade, investment, energy, technology, education, and culture. The visit aims to deepen cooperation and explore new opportunities for both nations.

The Foreign Office (FO) said the visit highlights longstanding and multifaceted ties between the two “brotherly countries.” Officials expect the discussions to identify new avenues of partnership and strengthen cordial relations. The visit also aims to enhance people-to-people linkages for mutual benefit. According to the FO, it underscores Pakistan’s commitment to fostering a strategic and results-oriented partnership with Bahrain.

Economic collaboration will be a key focus during the meetings. Both countries aim to expand trade, investment, and joint projects in energy and technology sectors. Education and cultural exchanges are also on the agenda to promote stronger bilateral engagement. Officials believe these steps will provide long-term benefits for citizens of both nations.

Security cooperation is another important part of Pakistan-Bahrain relations. Earlier this year, both countries pledged to enhance counter-terrorism, anti-human trafficking, and narcotics control efforts. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi had met Bahraini Interior Minister General Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa to review joint security measures. The discussions also focused on strengthening the Pakistan-Bahrain joint security committee.

The Bahraini minister called Naqvi’s visit a valuable opportunity to deepen cooperation. He praised the current level of coordination between the two countries. Overall, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit aims to boost bilateral ties across economic, cultural, and security sectors. Both governments hope the talks will result in tangible agreements benefiting their peoples.
