Authorities in Islamabad have ordered the closure of several popular hiking trails as part of heightened security arrangements linked to the arrival of foreign delegations. According to an official notification, Trail 2, Trail 3, Trail 4, and Trail 5 have been shut down with immediate effect from April 20 and will remain closed until further notice.

The decision comes alongside a broader security and traffic management plan aimed at ensuring smooth movement and safety in the federal capital. Officials stated that the closures are precautionary and part of efforts to manage large-scale movements of dignitaries and maintain order in sensitive areas.

In addition to trail closures, the city has also witnessed strict traffic restrictions. Major routes, including the Expressway from Korral to Zero Point, have been closed, while traffic flow on Srinagar Highway is being regulated intermittently. The Red Zone and adjoining areas have been completely sealed off, significantly impacting daily commuting patterns.

Residents of central sectors such as G-5, G-6, G-7, F-6, and F-7 have been advised to use alternative routes, including Margalla Road and Ninth Avenue, to travel between Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Authorities have also restricted the entry of heavy vehicles into the city, redirecting intercity traffic through designated motorway routes.

The closure of hiking trails, which are a major attraction for residents and tourists alike, has disappointed outdoor enthusiasts. However, officials emphasized that public safety remains the top priority under the current circumstances.

Citizens have been urged to stay informed through official communication channels, including traffic police updates on social media and FM radio, to avoid inconvenience. Authorities have assured that normal operations, including access to hiking trails, will resume once the security situation stabilizes.
