Punjab approves sky glass bridge to boost Murree tourism

Maryam Nawaz has granted principal approval for the “Sky Glass Bridge” project in Kotli Sattian near Murree, marking a major step toward enhancing tourism infrastructure in the region.
The decision was taken during a high-level meeting co-chaired by Maryam Nawaz and Nawaz Sharif, where the broader Murree Protection and Restoration Plan was reviewed. Officials confirmed that international experts will be engaged to address recurring landslides and environmental risks in the area.
The chief minister directed immediate measures to mitigate the “mudflow hill effect” and ordered financial assistance and rehabilitation efforts for residents affected by landslides in areas including Chatta Mour, Darya Gali, Bansra Gali, Namal, and Jheka Gali.

In a move to further boost tourism, three new hospitality zones will be developed in Shawala, Sozu, and Bruri. These zones will feature high-end facilities, including five-star hotels to be built in collaboration with the private sector. A dedicated expert team has also been formed to oversee the Murree Restoration Project.
Additionally, Maryam Nawaz set a one-month deadline to begin construction of the Murree Glass Train Project. Plans for new parks, a zoological garden in Bansra Gali, eco-tourism zones, and modern conference facilities were also reviewed during the meeting.
To promote wildlife conservation, projects such as a “Bear & Tiger House” and a “Bird Aviary” have been approved. A glamping pod village will also be established at Chewra Hill to attract eco-tourists.
The chief minister further directed completion of the feasibility report for a bulk water supply scheme from the Jhelum River to Murree by April 30.
